Project Background
Willen House provides exclusive student accommodation offered to postgraduate students attending courses at City University, London. 

The residence’s was converted and extensively modernised in 2007 into student housing from the unique ‘Bauhaus’ style building which dates back to the 1940s. These Halls of Residence are run and operated by EC1 Residences Limited in conjunction with City University.

EC1 Residences Limited required an online tool and corporate identity to promote the accommodation and facilities and allow users to view, select, book and pay for a room online.

Solution Delivered
The web site solution delivered fell into three core components:

  1. Public web site.
    Using the newly developed corporate identity the web site's primary goal was to detail the accommodation information and provide an extensive guide to the Willen House offering, including 360 degree tours of the rooms as well as floor plans. This was necessary to allow international students who could not come to view the accommodation in person to see what was available.

    It was also important to communciate the booking process, fees and legal information required to become a tenant in an informative and logical manner that would be understood by the target audience.
  2. Account based booking system.
    This enabled students to create an account and manage their booking through a secure portal. This allowed them to select and book a room online and manage their payments.

    Students were able to have total control of their account information at anytime and have total visibility on oustanding balances, pay further instalments, have the ability to download receipts and update personal information

    This also provided an ideal point of contact to post other important resident information including tenacy agreements, welcome packs and supplimentry guides.
  3. Adminstration and Content Management System.
    A comprehensive secure administration portal was set up to allow administrators to manage and track user accounts, bookings and transactions. This allows for complete visibility of residents within the facility.

    Reporting tools were implemented to allow records and data to be exported and used with third party accountancy packages. A broadcast email a facility was also added so that administrators can communicate directly via email with residents to ensure that they receive up to the minute information about the accommodation, their tenancy and any forthcoming instalments that need to be paid.

    The portal also allowed for total control of the web site content to ensure that all the latest information about accommodation, room rates and room availability is published.
